How many metres of gutter will one downpipe/outlet cope with?
E.g. How many downpipes do I need for a 5m span of guttering?
An outlet will only cope with so much water at once, and what I`m trying to say is, how many metres of gutter capacity will one outlet take when the rain is hammering down!?
Thankfully Lindab have made this nice an easy. If you work on 1 outlet for every 10 metres this should cover you. They say for one straight run under 10m use 1 outlet, and for over 10m use two. This makes it very easy to work out. The downpipes that we supply come in 3 metre lengths so it is then just a case of working out how many metres it is from the outlet to the ground. One end of the downpipe is socketed/crimped so they fit easily into each other saving the use of a downpipe joiner. This means if you have a downpipe run that is longer than 3m, be sure to cut the end that isnt socketed off, so that you still have the socket to use as a joiner! See image for illustration.
