How do I match to existing Lindab Guttering on my property?
Its not as hard as you might think!
When it comes to matching existing guttering it can be a complete nightmare, especially if you havent a clue on which make or what the specific material is. Sadly we cant answer for every single guttering brand that is out there, and sadly there isnt a universal size or profile that will fit in every single instance, although some plastic gutter brands are close in size when it comes to half round and square guttering. Case in point, some FreeFlow fittings will work with FloPlasts and vice versa.
In this case however, if you have read this far, we are assuming that you have managed to ascertain that the guttering you are trying to match to, is Lindab itself. We also assume that you are able to access the gutter on your property safely and with relative ease. The steps below are simple, and if you follow them, they will definitely aid you in making an educated decision about what you need.
1. Measuring the gutter. This is the most common mistake of all, the guttering size is meaured from the back of the gutter to the back of the scroll - NOT THE FRONT. for example, if measured wrong, i.e. from the back of the gutter to the front of the scroll (front of the gutter) a 100mm gutter measures 125mm, and a 125mm gutter measures 150mm. See illustration.
2. Matching the colour. Lindab comes in a variety of colours, and over the years their colours have changed, new ones brought in and old ones discontinued. We would recommend familiarising yourself with the current range online before deciding which colour it is that you have. Majestic Galvanised is often the easiest to tell as it goes very dull and the oxidisation of the galvanised finish can be spotted fairly quickly. It can be confused with silver metallic, however if you clean off the section you are inspecting, the metallic paint will still have some sparkle. It can be a lot more tricky to match the colours. Aside from black and white, the difference between Dark Grey (RAL 7043), Anthracite Metallic (RAL 9007) and Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) can be difficult to spot after a few years of weathering, but not impossible. Just be sure to clean off as much dirt/grime before trying to match the colour to give yourself a fighting chance of getting it right. If you are still unsure, order your sample colour swatch today here, or try and take a small fitting like a gutter bracket, joint, or downpipe bracket and take it to your local lindab stockist who will be more than happy to match this for you.
3. Sizing up your downpipe. You`ll be glad to know there is no secret hack to this. Getting a rough measurement should help determine the size. 75mm and 87mm are the two most common sizes, however Lindab also do 100mm and 120mm for more commercial properties.
