Transport, storage, unpacking
Make sure that the all the components are handled with care during transport, storage and unpacking. If not, the coating may be damaged or the pipes and gutters dented. Store pipes and gutters on a flat and stable surface. Non coated products must be un- packed and stored in a dry and ventilated place.
Cut the gutters and pipes with plate shears or a hacksaw on a firm base taking care to protect the painted surface with a thick cloth or rag on the ground. Never use an angle grinder. It heats the steel up and thus destroys the galvanizing properties or any other protective coating used. The coating may also be scorched by hot chips or filings.
Touch up damage
If the coating has been damaged or compromised, neat repairs can be made using the touch up paint supplied by Lindab to prolong the lifespan of the roof drainage system. Use a sponge or the nib of the paint pen/brush supplied in the touch up paint. These are available in either 12ml or 250ml pots.
If you want to keep the roof drainage system in good working condition, give the system some attention every 6 months. Clean the gutter and pipes from leaves and twigs. Wash with water and a mild detergent. Don’t use a pressure washing appliance.
Lindab’s roof drainage system can be mounted with ordinary hand tools such as pliers, hammer, hacksaw, screwdriver, folding rule and string to name a few. For bending brackets, you need a bracket bender.
You will need fixings for fastening the brackets and the pipe holders to the building. We always recommend that you use stainless screws and use the right screws intended for each material. The pipe holders should be mounted on the wall of the house. Be sure to check if it´s wood, concrete or bricks.
